A little idea that has been lingering around for literally years. A physical flipbook of just one particular wall in my regular pub, De Voortuin in Utrecht: the men’s toilet. So for roughly 2 years I have been taking a picture whenever I took a piss, as everyone does, until I accumulated enough pictures for an interesting animation, where every frame is different.
But a flipbook has 2 sides, and it would be a waste not to use the other side of the paper. I also started to put down sentences in my notes app whenever I thought they were interesting and I heard them said by someone in a pub around the world. Sentences like:
Ik betaal altijd, maar soms ga ik gewoon naar huis
I always pay, but sometimes I just go home.Don’t put a tattoo between your
tits if you don’t want people
to look at them.
Contacted a couple of printers, but the amount it would cost for a small run was just too much for my liking. I was not planning handing out 500 of these. Just a couple to the owners of the pub, friends and sometimes leave one on the toilet where all the pictures were taken. That ended me up buying a new printer (Epson Ecotank ET-4950) and a new A3 papercutter (Vevor A3 Papercutter). Very happy with the printer as it is way more economical using a tank based printer. Not that much with the papercutter, but maybe I just need to make some more little books to know how to work it better.
Went through a lot of tutorials and different webshops to learn about bookbinding and after some trail and error I got a few copies that were to my liking. Not noticing that some pages were double, but luckily I had some friends that pointed it out within seconds of receiving the first little print and binding run. So I printed a couple more and that was that. It now exists and I can just create more on demand or even expend on it when I accumalate more photos. Want to check out this version?
